Abstract

|
The following results were obtained by a comparative study on the antibiotics-preducing bacteria isolated from the conjunctival sac of 110 patients of ophthalmic diseases and 109 normal person.
1. The isolation rate of antibiotics-producing bacteria from diseased eyes was 30.0% while it was 45.0% from normal eyes.
2. The isolation rate of antibiotics-producing bacteria was lower in normal eyes when the enviromental conditions were better.
3. In diseased eyes, when the course was more chronic, the more antibiotics-producing bacteria were isolated.
4. No significant difference in the isolation rate of antibiotics-producing bacteria was observed among sexes and ages.
5. A tendency was noticed that the more different strains were isolated, the more antibiotics-producing bacteria were isolated.
