A Case of Juvenile Pancreatic Cancer

Abstract
A very rare case of a juvenile adenocarrcinoma of the pancreas head was reported and literatures were reviewed briefly.
A sixteen years old boy was admitted to the hospital because of pain in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen, jaundice, epigastric fullness, polyarthralgia and tarry stool. Physical examination showed icteric sclera and skin, cyanotic lips, epigastric tenderness and an egg-sized mass ¢¥in the right upper quadrant of the abdomen.
Laboratory examination revealed that the RBC was 1, 570, 000/mm 3, Hb. 4.5 gm/100ml, WBC 11, 700/mm 3, alkaline phosphatase 14 Bopansky units, bilirubin 9.5mg/100ml (direct 4.2 mg/100 m1) and SGOT 83 units. A plain abdomen X-ray film was nonspecific except a solitary small ring like radiopaque density in the right upper quadrant.
Exploratory laparotomy revealed a huge mass in the head of the pancreas and histological studies for the biopsy specimen disclosed an adenocarcinoma of the pancreas.
