The Cross-sectional study of the eruption timing and sequence of primary teeth of children from Chonnam Province.

Abstract
The normal range of eruption time, the mean time, and the eruption order of the twenty deciduous teeth have been investigated from 2431 children (1318 boys, 1113 girls) from Chonnam Province in Korea ranging in age from 3 to 38 months.
The important conclusions were;
1. There were no significant differences on the average eruption timing between corresponding left and right primary teeth both boys and girls.
2. It has been found that the emergence of the deciduous dentition in boys is more precocious than that in girls by about one month. The only notable exception to this pattern is the emergence of the first deciduous molars.
3. The average age of emergence of the deciduous teeth were as follows;
a. Upper deciduous central incisor: 9.230¡¾0.745 months
b. Upper deciduous lateral incisor: 10-195¡¾0.766 months
c. Upper deciduous cuspid: 16-668¡¾1.165 months
d. Upper deciduous first molar : 15.814¡¾0.938 months
e.0 Upper deciduous second molar : 26.154¡¾1.527 months
f. Lower deciduous central incisor: 7.191¡¾0.795 months
g. Lower deciduous lateral incisor: 11.633¡¾1.086 months
h. Lower deciduous cuspid : 17.214¡¾1.402 months
i. Lower deciduous first molar : 15.967¡¾0.825 months
j. Lower deciduous second molar : 25.079¡¾1.332 months
4. It was shown that the eruption order of each deciduous teeth determined by average eruption timing was lower deciduous central incisor, upper deciduous central incisor, upper deciduous lateral incisor, lower deciduous lateral incisor, upper deciduous first molar, lower deciduous first molar, upper deciduous cuspid, lower deciduous cuspid, lower deciduous second molar, and upper deciduous second molar.
5. Differences on the average eruption timing by jaw between corresponding individual teeth were statistically significant: the primary central incisor, primary second molar erupted significantly earlier in lower jaw, but the primary lateral incisor, primary cuspid, and primary first molar did in upper one.
6. The mean order of eruption of the deciduous teeth in children from Chonnam Province was different from that of American and same as that of Japanese.
7. The average eruption timings of children from Chonnam Province were later than those from American.
