Mothers¢¥ knowledge and attitudes on pre-school childrens¢¥ sexuality

Abstract
The preschool children¡¯s¢¥ sex related knowledge, attitude and reactions of the mothers was surveyed during the period of June 20-29, 1985. Subjects were 297 children¡¯s¢¥ mothers selected from 5 kindergartens in Kwangju area.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. Most of them were thirty years old and high school graduates. Above the half of them had received sex-related questions from their preschool children and replied that early sex education of preschool children was very important.
2. Mean score of respondents in knowledge, attitude and reactions was 10.2 points (max. score 15 points), 3.92 points (max. score 6 points) and 23.98 points (max. score 55 points) respectively. These scores were lower than those of American mothers¢¥ score.
3. Relationship between the knowledge and attitude was positive, while the relationship between the knowledge and reaction, and between the attitude and reaction showed the negative correlationship. However, these correlationships were very low.
4. Age, education, economic status, importance of early sex education were statistically significant in the correlationship between the knowledge, attitude and reaction,
