A study on the fluoride concentration of commercial dentifrices.

Abstract
|
|
|
In this study we randomly chose 9 different dentifrice’s which are presently on sale in Kwangju. The eight of the dentifrice’s were Korean-made and other one was foreign made.
We determined their total fluoride concentrations as well as their soluble fluoride concentrations by gas chromatography. Further, the F ion concentrations were determined by fluoride meter.
The results of the experiments have led to the following conclusion.
1. Among seven kinds of fluoride-containing dentifrice’s, three kinds of them showed total fluoride concentrations above 1, 000ppm while other four showed 813~973ppm.
2. Fluoride-containing dentifrice’s containing soluble fluoride concentrations above 1,000ppm were not found, and their soluble F concentration were 629~915ppm.
3. Fluoride-containing dentifrice’s showed the F ion concentration of 68~880ppm.
4. The dentifrice containing SMFP+NaF compounds had a high F ion concentration while the dentifrice containing SMFP had a low F ion concentration.
