A study on the factors affecting the burnout syndrome among human service workers



Abstract
In order to investigate the factors affecting the burnout syndrome among human service workers, a MBI(Maslach burnout inventory)-based questionnaire study was performed on 870 human service workers from hospitals. Schools, and department stores,

@EN 1. As a result of factor analysis with the MBI data, five factors named as emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, personal accomplishment, involvement, self-interest were extracted and their internal consistency reliability ranged from
0.749
to
0.242.
2. Variables affecting the level of emotional exhaustion were the complaint about nonspecific subjective symptoms, the degree of satisfaction with income, and the type of occupation.
3. Variables affecting the level of depersonalization were marrital status, age, and the complaint about nonspecific subjective symptoms.
4. Variables affecting the level of personal accomplishment were smoking and the length of vacation.
5. Variables affecting the level of involvement were the complaint about nonspecific subjective symptoms and the level of education.
