Clinical and mycological studies on dermatomycosis

Abstract
|
|
|
We performed clinical and mycological studies on 290 cases of dermatomycosis patients in Chonnam University Hospital from September to November, 1992.
The results are summarized as follows:
1. Among the age group, the peak incidence of age was the 3rd decade (19.6%).
2. The ratio of male to female patients was 1.4:1.
3. The incidence of dermatomycosis with decreasing orders were Tinea pedis(37.2%), Tinea cruris (13.4%), Tinea corporis (11.0%), Onychmycosis(8.6%), Tinea faciei(5.9%), Tinea capitis (4.5%), Tinea manus(2.8%), Tinea barbae(0.3%).
4. In dermatophytosis, a positive rate in the KOH mount examination was 70.4%.
5. Trichophyton rubrum was the most common causative organism of dermatophytosis (49.4%), with Candida albicans(23.0%), Trichophyton mentagrophytes(12.7%), presenting in decreasing order of frequency.
