A Case of Peripheral Primitive Neuroectodermal Tumor of the Vulva

Abstract

|
We report a case of metastatic peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) that originated in the vulva. A 19-year-old female presented with 6-month history of rapidly growing vulvar mass. It was extended to lower abdominal wall, pelvic cavity and both inguinal area, and distant metastases to liver and right lung by imaging study. After the diagnosis was made by histopathology and immunohistochemical stains, the patient underwent high-dose chemotherapy with autologous peripheral blood stem cell transplantation. Despite intensive treatment, relapse and rapid progression of the tumor was encountered and the patient died at 4 months after high-dose chemotherapy.
