A Simple Method for the Evaluation of Renal Function

Abstract

|
The relationship between ced.ium intake and byrertcrsion is still debatable. Investigating the relationship, it is necessary to measure the ch.-urges of renal function, renal hemodynamics and electrolytes metabolism, as a mass screening way with ease.
In order to give a simple screening method to evaluate rer..al hemodynamics and sodium transport in renal tubules by only use of night urine, experiments have been done.
The results were as follows.
The change of glo´kerular filtration rate calculated by endogenous creatinine significantly correlated with the change of excreted amount of urinary creatinine for 12 hours of night.
The change of fractional excretion of sodium also well correlated with the change of UN.v/Ucr v .
These data suggest tl at the change of renal hemodynamics and of sodium transport could be measured simply by using the excreted amount of urinary creatinine and of sodium without blood collection.
