Abstract
In cell culture system, DNA synthesis of human oral epithelium was stimulated by epidermal growth factor(EGF). Stimulation of DNA synthesis is maximal at 10^(-5) M of EGF. Th.e action of EGF is similar to that of fetal calf serum, but is distinguished by the ability of srum to stimulate further those cells maximally stimulated by EGF.
Human oral epithaIium that synthesize DNA is response to physiological concentration of EGF, 10^(-11) to 10^(-10) M, are insensitive to physiological concentration of EGF, 10^(-11) to 10^(-10) M, and respond only minimally to very high concentrations of insulin, 10^(-4) M.
