Abstract
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was done on 106 patients with tuberculosis and 30 normal persons using Tubercle bacilli Extract Antigen(TE antigen) and PPD Antigen. Following results are obtained. 1. With TE antigen the absorbance of antibody titer was 0.315¡¾0/245 in miliary tuberculosis; minimal, 0.228¡¾0.167; moderately advanced, 0.556¡¾0.616; far advanced 1.116¡¾0.651, and 0.126¡¾0.084 in normal control. 2. With PPD antigen the absorbance of antibody titer of miliary tuberculosis was 0.227¡¾0.142; minimal, 0.212¡¾0.086; moderately advanced, 0.527¡¾0.515; far advanced, 0.954¡¾0.612 and normal, 0.199¡¾0.086. 3. There was strong correlation between TE antigen and PPD antigen with correlation coefficient of r=0.888 (p£¼0.001). 4. Antibody titer was higher in tuberculosis than normal control and there was correlation between the antibody titer and the severity of disease.
