Studies on the Concetration of leucocytes of the peripheral blood and Synovial fluid in the experimental septic and aseptic arthritis

Abstract
|

|
Experimental arthritis were produced respectively by the intra-articular injection of the 2% croton-olive oil and intra- articular inoculation of staphylococcus aures at the knee and elbow joints of the rabbits.
In the cases of experimental aseptic arthritis due to 2% croton-olive oil injection, remarkable signs of the local irritation were obsered where as the changes in the leucocyte concentration were not remarkable in the peripheral blood. In addtion, considerable increase of the mononuclear cells than the grnulocytes were observed in the synovial fluid.
In the cases of experimental septic arthritis due to intra-articular inoculation of staphylococcus aureus, it showed marked increase of the granulocytes in the peripheral blood. and remarkable increase of the granulocytes in the synovial fluid.
