Survey of Infection and Morbidity Rate in Pulmonary Tuberculosis Contracted Children



Abstract
Authors studied infection and morbidity rate in 268 cases of children, family of 128 cases of adult pulmonary tuberulosis cases.
Results obtained are summerized as followings.
1) Over all infection rate showed 67.5%.
No different rate was observed between male and female. Infection rate is progressively increased with advancing age.
2) Tuberculosis morbidity rate showed 20.5%.
Male (23.2%) showed higher incidence than female (17.5%) , and progressively decline with advancing age.
3) Children who live with advanced case, positive sputum case, and using same room with patient are higher incidence of infection and morbidity rate.
4) 2 cases are affected tuberculosis among 36 cases of B. C.G. vaccinated children.
5) Age distribution of proportion in infection rate and morbidity rate showed highest in less than one year old children (80%), and progressive decline with advancing age.
6) hilar node tuberculosis showed 58.2 %,primary complex showed 34.5%, and other showed 8.3% in this study.
