Abstract
This report containes the results gained from an analytical studies made on 74 cases of malignant lymphoid tumors collected from surgical pathological specimens of total 6,035 cases examined at St. Mary¢¥s Hospt. and Han-il Hospt. Seoul, Korea during a period of 4 years and 10 months from June, 1959 to April, 1954.
Incidence of malignant lymphoid tumors were 1.1% of total cases of tissue examined and 8.7% of all malignant neoplasms faund in the period.
Sex distribution of malignant lymphoid tumors showed higher incidence in male than in female in ratio of 1.7:1.
The tumors were found in any age graup, and the youngest patient being 1 year and 3 months and the eldest 66 years of ages. The mean age was 39.9¡¾17.83 years with the highest incidence in 3rd decad. Even though all types of malignant lymphoid tumors were more common in the patients after 30 years of age, both types of giant follicular lymphoma and Hodgkin¢¥s sarcoma were not observed in the patients under 30 years of age while lymphosarcoma and reticulum cell sarcoma were fairly common in such younger age gnoups.
Comparing the number of cases in each types of the tumors classified as giant follicular lymphoma, lymphocytic lymphosarcoma, lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma, reticulum cell sarcoma, Hodgkin¢¥s sarcoma and others, the cases of reticulum cell sarcoma were the highest in number being 35 cases, and it was 47.3% of all malignant lymphoid tumors. Lymphocytic lymphosarcoma were 13 cases being 17.6%, and lymphoblastic lymphosarcoma were 11 cases being 14.9%. Hodgkin¢¥s sarcoma were 8 cases being 10.8% and giant follicular lymphoma were -5 cases being 6.8%.
