Experiental Study of Half Survival Rate of Erythrocytes in Hemolytic Anemia

Abstract
Life span of the erythrocytes (reticulocytes) of hemolytic anemia rabbits were estimated. The hemolytic anemia was induced by administration of phenylhydrazin hydrochloride, and the erythrocytes were labeled with radioactive cromium.
1. The half survival rate of . the erythrocytes of hemolytic anemia was reduced to one quorter of normal. The half survival time of the erythrocytes was appeared to be around 3 days.
2. It is suggested that the shortening of the life span of erythrocytes was caused by various factors such as a factor involved in anemic erythrocytes themselves, activities of reticuloendotherial system and other possible factors.
