Abstract
The supernatant and sedimental fractions. obtained by ammonium sulfate-treatment, of heated-bacterial substance can form the cold and warm phage hemagglutination and the phage inactivating activity of supernatant fraction is stronger than that of the sedimental fraction.
By repeating of the ammonium sulfate-treatment, the dose of effective substance for phage hemagglutination is gradually decreased and the phage hemagglutinationforming ability of the red cells pretreated in tannic acid is remarkably lower than that of normal red cells.
Each of the protein, carbohydrate and lipoidal substance isolated from the bacterial extract can form the phage hemagglutination and inactivate the phage activity.
