Abstract
|
|
|
A case of arthroplasty of the elbow Ana 25 year old man is presented. Study of clinical symptoms and signs revealed ankylcsis of the left elbow joint in the position of 65 degrees flexion and claw finger deformity in the left hand.
Roentgenographic findings showed ankylosis of the left elbow and an old unreduced Monteggia fracture-dislocation.
At the first operation the Monteggia fracture dislocation was corrected by open reduction with an autogenous fibular graft and intramedullary nailing for the non-union of the upper third of the ulna and resection of the radial head for dislocation of the head. Eight months later, arthroplasty of the elbow was performed with free fascial interposition. The postoperative course has been satisfactory, any one year after surgery there is 80 degrees(15°-95°) of motion without pain.
