Histopathologic Analysis of 84 Cases of Thyroid Lesions Among Korean

Abstract
Eighty four cases of thyroid diseases were histologicaly classified and analyzed their frequency by histological type, sex and age group.
1. Age distribution of all of 84 cases of thyroid lesions revealed 6 cases in second decade (7. 5%), 27 cases in third decade (33.6%), 15 cases in fourth decade (18.5%), 19 cases in fifth decade (23.5%), 10 cases in sixth decade (12.3%) and 4cases in seventh decade (4.6%). Other 3 cases were unknown their age.
2. Male to female sex ratio of overall cases of thyroid lesions revealed 1 : 7.4.
3. Classification of overall cases of thyroid. lesions by group disclosed 4 cases of congenital anomaly (4.8%) 8 cases of inflammatory disease (9.6%), 20 cases of goiter (23.7%), 25 cases of benign neoplasm (29.8%) and 27 cases of malignant neoplasm (32. 1%).
4. Male to female sex ratio in each group revealed 3 : 1 in congenital disease, 1 7 in inflammatory disease, 1 : 19 in goiter, 1 : 24 in adenoma and 1 : 6 in carcinoma.
5. Most prevalent age group of thyroid lesions by each group revealed inflammatory diseases in sixth decade, goiter in third decade, adenoma in third and fourth decades, and carcinoma in third and fifth decades.
6. Classification of 20 cases of goiter by histological, type revealed 8 cases of simple goiter (40%), 2 cases of diffuse goiter (10%) and 10 cases of adenomatous or nodular goiter (50%).
7. Classification of 25 cases of thyroid adenoma showed 17 cases of colloid adenoma (68%), 5 cases of fetal adenoma (20%), 1 case of embryonal adenoma (4 0) and 2 cases of papillary adenoma (8%).
8. Classification of 27 cases of thyroid cancer revealed 5 cases of localize adenoma) type (18.5%) ,9 cases of follicular type (33.3)9 cases of papillary type (22.3%), 2 cases of mixed type (0.74%), 1 case of undifferentiated small cell type (0.37%) and 1 case of giant cell type (0.37%).
