Studies on the Bacterial Contamination of the Coliform Bacteria for Marketing Strawberries in Busan


Abstract
Author studies on the microbial contamination in strawberries sold- at markets in Busan. This research is considered to be of great significance because straw-. 1erries is closely related to public health. For this study all samples were collected -at ten markets of Busan city in June 1973.
The results obtained were as follows:
1) All samples were showed to the bacterial contamination of the coliforms. And twenty strains of Escherichia coli isolated from seven samples of strawberries.
2) In strawberries were found the general bacterial numbering from high 106.8X 106 to low 1.5 X 106 and average viable counts were 18.88 X 106 organisms per, gram. The coliform bacterial numbering from high 68X106 to low.1.0X105 and average viable counts in strawberries Were 10.4 X 105 organisms per gram. These numbers were very higher ¢¥than that of international security limit in public health.
3) The excrement of men and animals were usually fertilized to the farm land, it, seemed possible for the strawberries to show such high contamination of the coliform bacteria.
