A Curriculum Model in Baccalaureate Program of Nursing


Abstract
The purpose of this study was to reconsider the concept of nursing education. especially at the baccalaureate level, related to the problems of higher education in Korea. Next to suggest one example of curriculum program.
It may be said that man is a cognitive bio-psycho-social being who interacts with the forces in his environment, and has potential for development and self direction throughout his life-span. Nursing is to promote health and healing, to prevent illness and disability, and to alleviate suffering. The essential nature of professional nursing is understanding human interrelationships and using interpersonal process.
It is a service rendered in the dynamic maintenance of health and . in the
anticipation of a health-illness nature. Education is to developed individual¢¥s potential and makes it possible to function productively by maintaining and changing the community system.
The primary focus of undergraduate education in nursing is the preparation of a generalist who will be able to function as a beginning professional practitioner. Another is to offer the educational base needed to continue into graduate education.
The program of studies in nursing provides a sound professional major based upon a flexible core of content in general education.
It is designed to prepare the student with a basic foundation in the three broad areas of human knowledge; the humanities, the social and behavioral sciences, and the natural sciences.
Students have an opportunity to take nursing major elective according to their
particular interests or needs. Curriculum model under the consideration of above is as follow.
