Alterations in Regional Pulmonary Blood flow and Hemodynamics

Abstract
In patients with mitral valve disease, the redistribution of the pulmonary arterial blood flow on the aspect of radiological findings and the perfusion lung scan ;were observed in association with the hemodynamic study.
The extent of the abnormal redistribution was found to. be a result of the hemodynamic consequence in that the upper and lower diversion of the pulm-onary blood flow were correlated more closely with the degree of mitral valve area, left atrial pressure, pulmonary artery pressure and the pulmonary vascular resistance.
The magnitude of redistribution towards the apices provides an estimate the severity of the disease. The plain radiology and corresponding perfusion scan may indicate the severity of mitral valve disease as well as hemodynamic alt-erations pre and postoperatively without the cardiac catheterization.
The perfusion lung scan is the most valuable diagnostic tool with easy repro-duction rapidly to the large number of pulmonary embolism complicated by mitral valve disease.
