Clinical Experience with Ciprofloxacin in the Treatment of Acute and Chronic Respiratory Tract Infections

Abstract

|
Ciprofloxacin is a new generation of DNA gyrase inhibitor and has a broad antibaterial spectrum that includes the majority of Enterobacteriaceaea. P. aeruginosa, Hemoiphilus, and many gram positive cocci including methicillin-resistant S. aureus.
An clinical trial was performed to evaluate the efficacy & safety of ciprofloxacin in 33 patients with respiratory tract infection. The treatment was successful in 100 % in acute RTI, 85 % in chronic RTL
Adverse reaction was observed in 2 patients which was GI disturbance and itching.
