The Health Problems of Collegians and Faculty Members utilizing the Health Clinic at K Teachers University


Abstract
This study aims to analyze the kind of health problems of the collegians and the faculty members which utilize the health clinic in K Teachers University based on sex, grade (age), month, and day, and to provide the data which is necessary for school health management and health education. Data for the study were selected from records of health clinic for the 1987¢¥s academic period except summer and winter vacations.
The average number of visits made by both male and female collegians for the period is 1.3 per one and the average number of visits made by male and female faculty members for that period is 4.7 and 5.8 per one respectively. The main health problems of both collegians and faculty members are as follows: indigestion (29.7 %), common cold (21.3 %), injury (15.2 %). Common cold (25.1 %) in male collegians and indigestion (24.0 %) in female collegians are the most predominant. Indigestion (54.7 %) in male faculty members and also indigestion (33.9 %) in female faculty members are the most predominant.
The juniors make most visits (2.0 times) among collegians and the faculty members in their forties also make most visits (5.4 times). For freshmen and sophomores they have more injury (23.7 % and 24.3 % respectively than any other health problems and for juniors and seniors they have more common cold (24.1 % and 22.7 % respectively) than any other health problems. For the faculty members they have more indigestion (50.4 %) than any other health problems, and those faculty members above their fifties are more likely to have indigestion.
Collegians make most visits in September (20.9 %) and the faculty members in May (16.9 %). For the collegians injury is most frequent in March (2.5.6 %); common cold in April (31.0 %), September (20.7 %), and November (27.8 %); indigestion in May (21.8 %). June (26.6 %), October (25.9 %), and December (28.2 %). For the faculty members indigestion is most frequent (50.4 %) all through the period, especially in May.
Both collegians and faculty members make most visits on Wednesday in a week (21.2 and 20.1 % respectively). For the collegians they have more common cold than any other health problems on Monday (23.3 %) and Tuesday (21.1 %). more indigestion on Wednesday (22.0 %) and Thursday (21.9 %), more injury on Friday (22.4 %) and Saturday (26.9 %). For the faculty members they have more indigestion all through the week than any other health problems and especially on Saturday.
