A Study on Social Support of Mother with a Chronically Ill Child

Abstract

|
The study was done to investigate how much social support of mothers with a chronically ill child were perceived. The subjects for the study were obtained by taking a convenient sample of mothers with a chronically ill child, listed in three medical centers in Taegu city from June, 30, through September, 10, 1988. The social support responses were measured with questionnaire, developed by Norbeck(NSSQ). Social support level of mothers with a chronically ill child was low. total functional support scores were 142.43, total social network scores were 59.95. Functional support level from husband was lower than the level from family in law and own family.
