A Study on Perceived Family Support and the Compliance of Hemodialysis Patient



Abstract
This descriptive - correlational study was conducted to exam if there were relation between perceived family support and compliance of hemodialysis patient.
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for efficient nursing care for hemodialysis patient.
For this study, 214 hemodialysis patients were selected from 3-general hospital located in Taegu city.
The instrument used for this study were perceived family support scale developed by Choi and modified by the researcher, compliance scale developed by the researcher through referene.
The data was analyzed by use of descriptive statistics, t-test and ANOVA and Pearson, correlation coefficient.
The result of this study were as follows:
1. The range of perceived family support was 17 to 60 and mean score was 47.73.
2. There were significant differences between the perceived family support and marital status (t=2.82, p < 0.005), spouse (t=2.76, p < 0.01) the number of family (F=9.65, p < 0.005), medical insurance (t=2.07, p < 0.01).
3. The range of the compliance 33 to 66 and mean sore was 53.33.
4. There were significant differences between the compliance and age (F=4.71, p < 0.01), marrital status (t=2.80, p < 0.01).
5. The relationship between perceived family support and compliance was statically significant (r=0.3850, p < 0.001).
