A Study on Home Nursing Care Needs of the Protected in Medical Insurance Program Based on Virginia Henderson¢¥s Fourteen Needs

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide the basic information to enlarge the role of community health service and to sermount the difficulties of medical insurance program. This study was done to investigate the home nursing care needs, the utilization and the intention of payment for the home health care service of the beneficiaries in Medical Insurance Program.
The data were collected by means of questionnaire from 105 beneficiaries in Jin Ju City from March 13 to April 15, 1989.
The main results of this study can be summarized as follows;
1. Home nursing care needs consisted of physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs, 30.2 % of the subjects have physical needs, 42.7 % of them have psychological needs, 80.5 % of them have social needs, 52.4 % of them have spiritual needs, and then the social needs (80.5 %) is higher than any other needs.
2.. Among the items of physical needs, the needs for "move and maintain desirable posture" (60.0 %) is higher than any other needs. Among the psychological, social, and spiritual needs, the needs for "work at something providing a sense of accomplishment" (81.0 %) is higher than any other needs. - This percentage is also the highest ratio among 14 basic nursing needs of Virginia Henderson.
3. The reasons of needs were mainly illiteracy, indifference, economical trouble and disease of physical and spiritual.
4. The ratio that each family has a patient in his home was 90.5 percentage. The system of. their diseases were chiefly composed of muscular skeletal system (25.3 %), digestive system (22.1 9o) and cardiovascular system (15.8 %).
5. By nursing, the distribution of the intention that they would utilize the home health care service was as follows; they who have the intention were 86.7 %, they who dons have it were 13.3 %, and then they who have the intention of payment for the performance were 46.7 %, they who don¢¥t have it were 43.7 % and the unanswered were 9.5 %.
