An attempt was made to evaluate the X-ray irradiation effect on two groups of rats, 3 non-pregnant and 3 15-days-pregnant, by 500r. total body irradiation. The following results were obtained:
1. In both pregnant and non-pregnant groups of experimental rats there was no single case of death resulting from X-ray irradiation observed within a 15-days post-irradiation period.
2. Continuous decrease in body weight in both groups was noted.
3. In both pregnant and non-pregnant groups :of rats a steady decrease in red and white-cell count, along with Hb. concentration was observed.
4. Moderate to severe atrophic and necrotic changes were noted in hematopoietic system and ovaries. These histopathological findings appeared to be more severe in the 15-days-pregnant rat group than in the non-pregnant group.
