A Clinico-pathological study of 253 cases of tumors encountered in our department during the past 3 years.

Abstract
253 cases of tumors, benign and malignant, collected from the file of the E.N.T. service, Chonnam University Hospital, during the past 3year period, from Jan. 1960 to Dec. 1962 were analysed as to their destribution according to the histopathological classification of the tumors, and the following resuls were obtained.
1. Sex distribution;
In malignant tumors; the distribution as regard to the sex showed that 60 cases (80%) were in males and 15 cases (20%) in females. Malignant tumors occurred 4 times as frequently in males as in femals.
In benign tumors; 107 cases (60%) were in males and 71 cases (40%) in females. For benign tumors the rate was 1.5 times more in males than in females.
2. Age distribution;
70 cases (93.4%) were between the ages from 41 to over 70, and 2 cases were under 20 in malignant tumors, while 108 cases of benign tumors occurred in the age group between 10 and 20, the remaining 70 cases (39.3%) were after the age of 20 years.
3. Localization of tumors;
150 cases (59%) were in the nose and paranasal sinuses, 70 cases (27%) in the pharyngo-laryngoesophagus and 33 cases (14%) in the oral cavity.
Of these 253 cases, 55 cases (33.3%) were squamous cell carinoma and 130 cases (96.2%) were nasal polyps.
Of 44 cases of laryngeal tumors, 15 cases were squamous cell carcinoma, 23 cases papillomata, 5 cases polyps and a case fibroma.
