10 Cases of Osteotomy

Abstract
|
|
|
1. The author has performes 10 cases of osteotomy, 5 cases of subtrocha ntericosteotmy and 5 cases-of supracondylar osteotomy of the femur, for correction of fixed flexion-deformities. After surgery, patients were immobilized by means of hip spica cast, for 8 to 12 weeks, and quadriceps setting exercises were done as soon as possible.Follow-up study revealed that complete extension(180¡Æ) was achieved `in 6 cases, 17 extension in 1 case and 170¡Æ extension in 3 cases.
2. The author concludes that osteotomy for correction of fixed flexion deformities is the indicated procedure, even though the number of cases in this study was not many.
