Abstract
Two cases of scurvy presented in infants who had been nourished by artificial feedings with rice-water and dry milk were reported.
These cases menifested gum bleeding, painful swelling of both extremities, and palpable painful rosaries on both sides of the anterior chest.
Physical examination revealed poorly nourished, chronically ill appearance with pale face, and severe anemic conjunctiva.
Roentgenographic examination showed striking rosaries in all costochondral junctions of the chest, and typical scorbutic findings in the extremities, more outstanding in the lower extremities.
Clinical observations on these cases of scurvy were briefly discussed with review of the literature.
