A Clinical study in Patients with Congenital Hypertrophic Pyloric Stenosis


Abstract
A total of 17 patients with congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis treated at the Chonnam University Hospital from april 1964 to march 1969 was reviewed.
The results obtained as follows;
1) Most common age was 3 weeks, and they occupied 9 cases out of 17(52%). 2) The sex distribution assumed a ratio of 4 to 1 with 13 males and 4 females. Seasonal incidence was higher in summer than in winter.
3) Adquate preoperative managements were necessary in all cases. Preoperative fluid and electrolyte replacement for one or two days was necessary in 13 cases out of 17(56.5%).
4) In all cases, pyloric mass was palpable.
5) Here was no operative mortality.
6) Except one case, who has discharged with persistant vomiting, all the other cases had discharged on the 5th-7th postoperative day, without any complication.
