Incidences of Spine Osteoporosis by Central Score Metry and Relative Vertebral Density

Abstract
Osteoporosis is a common clinical disorder, notably affecting postmenopausal women, usually over 45 years of age. Low back pain in the elderly women are considered to have some relation with osteoporosis in numerous cases. Many authors have done numerous investigations to clarify pathogenesis, method of treatment, pathophysiology, etc. and to notify incidences and radiological findings, etc.
However, there are no definite way in the management of osteoporosis, even in the measurement by radiological method.
The authors applied a popular central score metry of Nordin, et. al(1960) and relative vertebral density of Smith, et. al. upon 294 examinee (all of the subject were women over 40 years of age). We compare the results of measurement by two methods.
It conclued that in regarding to the inciderces osteoporosis, relative vertebral density shows higher than central score metry in the early stage of osteoporosis, and thereafter they(both measurement) become similar in the incidences in the later stage.
