Histochemical study of mucosubstances of human primary and metastatic mucin-secreting tumors were undertaken to gain information concerning the nature of the mucin and to compare that of primary and metastatic tumors and of normal conditions.
Fifty four cases of mucinous adenocarcinoma of stomach, colon and rectum, ovary and uterine cervix were evaluated with each metastatic lesions in regional lymphnodes and normal cells at the site of the primary tumor. Hematoxylin, and Eosin stain, periodic acid-Schiff stain with diastase digestion, Alcian blue stain, mucicarmine stain, and metachromatic dye, toluidine blue and thionine, stains were carried
