A Case of Acute Brain Syndrome Associated with Disulfiram

Abstract

|
We have observed a case of acute brain syndrome associated with Disulfiram(Alcohol Stop) ; a 53 years old male patient showed various psychotic symptoms which developed within about 10 days after taking Disulfiram. Also, we have observed that they have some relationship between various psychotic symptoms, patient´s life history in the past and psychopathology. Disulfiram has been used by laymen for chronic alcoholism, but treatment with a drug possessing such serious toxic potentialties should be under constant physician supervision and caution. Literature reviews were a so made briefly.
