Radioimmunoassay of Endogenous Plasma Insulin in Normal Subjects and Diabetic Patients

Abstract
|
|
|
Determination of plasma insulin levels by radioimmunoassay technic with Insulin RIAKIT (Dainabot Radioisotope Lab. Ltd., Japan) was performed in 7 normal subjects and 23 non-obese diabetic patients who had never received insulin therapy, at fasting, 30 and 120 minutes after 100gm of oral glucose load.
The obtained results were as following:
1) Insulin level of normal group was 31.1±6.4 (Mean±S. E. , Range; 17.5-68.5) at fasting, 130.5±2.5(Range; 119.5-141.0) at 30 minutes and 83.7±8.9 (Range; 37.2-105.0)?U/ml at 120 minutes after glucose loading.
2) Insulin level of diabetic group was 12.7±1.7(Mean±S.E., Range; 5.0-28.5) at fasting, 94.7±5.2 (Range; 40.0-138.0) at 30 minutes, and 104.5±2.7 (Range; 80.0-122.0)?U/ml at 120 minute after glucose loading.
3) Plasma insulin level reached to the peak at 30 minutes in normal group, on the other hand, it showed delayed peak level at 120 minutes in diabetic group after oral glucose roading.
