The first trial of Tofranil Provocation EEG for Complex Partial Seizures in Korea

Abstract
A lot of artifacts for nasopharyngeal electrode study which make electroencephalographer upset and confusing are stilr frequently employed throughout many institutes for the study of temporal lobe epilepsy.
Tracings with insertion of sphenoid electrodes which causes disagreeable pain are also applied relatively often by few electroencephalographers.
Contrarily, for the above disavrantages; interference and artifacts by the former and risky, painful strain by the latter, the clinical values are not certain yet.
Since Kiloh introduced intravenous imipramine provocation technic without special electrodes, few electroencencephalographer imitated his method. In other words his method is almost in disregard.
The author has been encouraged by some voluntary examinees who could overcome adverse reactions such as hypotension after the imipraine injection and attempt to refine and standardise the method for Korean examinees.
The result is unexpectedly satistactory and reveals a relatively high positive response to the provocation, with neither prolonged drug induced hypotension nor any other aftermath following the studies.
