Prevalence of Paragonimus westermani Among School Children in Kasan Myun, Chilgok County, Kyungpook Province, Korea


Abstract
In order to determine the prevalence of Paragonimus westermani among school children in Kasan myun, Chilgok county (kun), which has been known as the endemic area of paragonimiasis in Kyungpook Province, a total of 496 school children were examined from April to September, 1977 using intradermal tests with Paragonimus westermani antigen.
The positive rate of intradermal test with the antigen among the children was found to 1 e 9.9 per cent. There was no significant difference in the sex specific rate, but the positivity of the test in the age specific rate was higher in the younger age groups (7 to 8 year-old) than the older age groups (9 to 12 year-old).
