Dislocation of the Shoulder with Fracture of Surgical Neck

Abstract
Dislocation of the shoulder associating the fracture of surgical neck of humerus is uncommon and its treatment is generally difficult. Though a number of treatments have been proposed, including closed reduction, open reduction and internal fixation, resectional arthroplasty, prosthetic replacement, the end results were not always satisfactory.
Authors treated a case of this type of fracture-dislocation of the shoulder by open reduction and internal fixation using two Steinmann pins and a tension band. In this case, early active exercise of the shoulder was possible, because fixative devices could provide firm_ fixation of fractures of the humeral neck and greater tuberosity, which brought satisfactory end result at the end.
