Clinical study of high concentration amino acid (Proamin) in the pediatric surgical patients

Abstract
The present study deals with prospective nutritional survey using Proamin in pediatric surgical patient managed at Yonsei Medical Center during five months from June 1985 to October 1985.
The total mass were 30 patients in which 10 patients were not received Proamin as control group and the rest were received Proamin as study group. Results were as follows:
1. Weight loss was minimal post-operatively in study group who received Proamin.
2. Serum albumin levels were not different statistically between study group and control group.
3. Post-operative urine excretion of nitrogen compound was significantly decreased in study group. Difference between study group and control group was statistically significant in fifth postoperative day. So it is apparent that protein sparing effect is significant in study group who received Proamin.
4. Hyperchloremic acidosis was not found in study group.
