Sonographic Examination of Neck Mass

Abstract
|
|
|
Total 49 cases of pathologically proven neck masses were evaluated by ultrasonography.
The results are as follows:
1. Variable echo pattern in benign and malignant tumors are noted.
1) Five of 8 malignant tumors show mixed echo pattern. Three of them are solid content predominent mixed echo pattern, and 2 of them show cystic content predominent mixed echo pattern with mural nodule.
2) Seventeen of 26 benign tumors show mixed echo pattern, and 16 of them are solid content predominent mixed echo pattern.
3) There are 11 lymphadenitis. Seven of them show hypoechoic echo pattern and 5 of them show multiplicity.
2. Halo sign are noted, in 5 of 26 benign tumors. They are 2 cases of benign thyroid tumors and 1 case of benign salivary glandular tumor and 2 cases of extra glandular tumors.
