The Clinical Effects of Vitamedin^(®) in Diabetic Neuropathy

Abstract
|
|
|
To evaluate the clinical effect of Vitarnedin® in patients with diabetic neuropathy, we tried open climcai study. Vitamedin® was given orally 50mg capsule three times a day for 2 weeks in 27 patients and fcr 4 weeks in 15 patients of those 27 patients: We checked 3 subjective symptoms (pain, numbness, paresthesia) and 3 objective symptoms (vibration sense, DTR, gastrocnemius tenderness) before and after treatment (2 weeks and 4 weeks).
The results were as follows
1. In 2 weeks-treatment group of 27 patients, 8(40%) of 20 patients with pain, 9(39.1%) of 23 patients with numbness, 5(33.3%) of 15 patients with paresthesia, 3(18.8%) of 16 patients with decreased vibration sense, 1(5.9%) of 17 patients with decreased DTR, and 4(22.2%) of 18 patients with gastrocnemius tenderness were improved.
2. In 4 weeks-treatment group of 15 patients, 5(45.5%) of 11 patients with pain, 6(42.8) of 14 patients with numbness, 3(37.5%) of 8 patients with paresthesia, 2(25%) of 8 patients with decreased vibration sense, 1(10%) of 10 patients with decreased DTR, and 2(20%) of 10 patients with gastrocnemius tenderness were improved.
3. After 2 weeks´ medication, 6(22.2%) of 27 patients were improved in subjective symptoms, and 5(18.5%) of 27 patients were completely recovered from subjective symptoms or improved in objective symptoms, so the total number of improved patients were 11(40.7%).
4. After 4 weeks´ medication, 3(20.2%) of 15 patients were improved in subjective symptoms and 3(20.2%) of 15 patients were completely recovered from subjective symptoms or improved in objective symptoms, so the total number of improved patients were 6(40%).
5. There were no symptoms suggesting side effect of drug.
In this study, we concluded that vitamedin® has some clinical effect and little side effect in patients with
diabetic neuropathy.
