Koro Syndrome in an Atypical Psychosis


Abstract
An atypical psychosis case of 24-yr old man with Koro syndrome is reported. He had had a f ear of shrinking of the penis into the abdomen and impending death lasting for 5 hours.
A panic syndrome was associated with feelings of collapse, body spasms, penile pain radiating to the lower extremities, and deluded idea of being poisoned with the water, but no complications arose as a result of remedial manuever.
After then he was suspicious, mute, and refused to eat except water and had a delusion of being persecuted by a companion.
He was treated with antipsychotics, chlorpromazine upto 500 mg and 5 days after admission all psychotic symptoms disappeared.
