A Case of the congenital Tuberculosis

Abstract
|
|
|
We experienced a case of congenital tuberculosis in a 21 day-old male infant, who was a first product of 23 year-old woman and was born at the 35+2 weeks gestational period with 2,200 gin weight.
On admission, he was dyspneic in appearance, and complained of fever and coughing which lasted for 5 days.
Physically, moist rales were heard on both lung fields and enlarged liver and spleen were also palpated.
His mother was revealed to have miliary tuberculosis after the diagnosis of congenital tuberculosis have been established.
Final diagnosis in a baby was confirmed by the findings of chest X-ray, gastric washing examination for AFB, and ultrasonogram of the liver.
He did not show remarkable improvement against triple therapy for 6 months.
However, the chest film which took at 1 year after treatment showed nearly normal findings.
