Ketorolac Tromethamine as Compared with Dagafor Treatment of Pain Induced byAcute Soft Tissue Injury in Patients of Department of Orthopedic Sugery



Abstract
Ketorolac tromethamine, a nonnarcotic, prostaglandin synthesis-inhibiting analgesic, was compared with Daga¡Æ for relief of pain induced by Acute soft tissue injury (sprain, strain, & contusion).
The 60 patients participated in this study. The 30 patients were received Ketorolac tromethamine 40 ~ g per day for 7 days per orally in a randomized parallel study. The remain 30 patients were received Data 8 tablets per day for 7 days per orally.
The results were compared at the end of treatment in a respect of pain on motion, degree of motion limitation, side effects, physician¢¥s overall effectiveness rating, & patient¢¥s global evaluation. Results were as follows:
1. It showed more excellent result as regard the improvement of pain on motion, and motion limitations, in the group of Ketorolac tromethamine.
2. Physician¢¥s overall effectiveness rating was more than good in 96.7%. 3. Patient¢¥s global evaluation was more than good in 98.8%.
4. Three patients, who have taken Ketorolac tromethamine, were suffered from side effects such as 2 cases of abdominal pain and 1 case of nausea, constipation and abdominal discomfort. These symptoms were light and were recovered spontaneously or by medication.
Conclusion: The Ketorolac tromethamine was very effective for relief of pain induced by soft tissue injury (sprain, strain & contusion) in orthopaedic field, and side effects were few and generally mild.
