Abstract

To see whether there is any difference of fibrinolytic activity in euglobulin fraction after venous occlusion by general anesthesia and regional anesthesia, I measured total fibrinolytic activity before and after tourniquet apply from 7 patients with general anesthesia and 7 patients with regional anesthesia.
The results were as follows
(1) In general anesthesia group, the fibrinolytic activity in euglobulin fraction was decreased in 6 out 7 patients(85.7%) and increased in 1 out of 7 patients(14.3%) after operation.
(2) In regional anesthesia group with brachial plexus block, the fibrinolytic activity in euglobulin fraction was increased in 5 out of 7 patients(71.4%) and decreased in 2 out of 7 patients(28.6%) after operation.
There findings suggest that the increased fibrinolytic activity in euglobulin fraction in regional anesthesia group was due to systemic factor such us vasopressin, sympathetic activity and emotional stress.
