It is important to evaluate the hoarseness which is the most common complaint in vocal nodule.
Authors experienced 72cases of laryngeal nodule (28 cases pt male, 44 cases of female; 38.4¡¾ 7.3 years old of average age) from 1985 to 1990 ¢¥and evaluated the phoniatrical analysis. Results were as follows
1. Maximal phonation time was 18.1 sec in male and 14.3 sec in female. Phonation quotient was 153.2 ml/sec in male and 148.1 ml/sec in female. Mean air flow rate was 149.5 ml./sec in male and 132 ml/sec in female.
2. On aerodynamic study. 70% of cases were within normal ragne, but abnormal range was less than 30%. The cases with abnormal range were more common in bilateral nodules than unilateral nodule.
3. On psychoacoustic analysis, the laryngeal nodules with rough voice were 46 cases (63.9%) and laryngeal nodules with strained voice were 26 cases (36.1%). A half of cases showed mild hoarseness and the laryngeal nodules with strained voice were severe in degree of hoarseness.
