Nurse¢¥s attitude toward death and terminally ill patients


Abstract
The purpose of this study vas to investigate nurse¢¥s attitude toward death and terminally ill patient.
This study was done 147 nurses in three general hospital in S city. The study findings were as follows:
1. 85.0% of the nurses replied that death should be prepared in advance, religious group was showed higher rate (p < . 05).
2. In response to the question of whether or not the terminally ill patient should be informed of his condition, 56.5% of the respondents replied that they would inform an occasion.
In response to the medical treatment for hopeless cases, 56.5%of the nurses felt that "reasonable treatments only should be tried for the patient¢¥.
3. In the contents which included the Nsg care planning for the dying patients, as possible as keeping the comfortable physical state was showed the highest rate 38.1%
4. 49.7% of the respondents believed in existence of life after death. There was difference between religious group and non religious group. (p <. 000) In the question that have you ever experienced the spiritual conversation with the patients 69.4 of the nurses was no experienced. The religion plays the most important role to nurse the terminally ill patients.
