Studies on the Osmotic Fragility of RBC of Pregnant Woman and Fetus

Abstract
Osmotic fragility of RBC was observed in pregnant women(normal and toxmia) and fetuses. And studied in NaCl solution (0.3,0.35, 0.4, 0.45, 0.5, and 0.55%) and degree of hemolysis was measured with sphectrophotometer at 540my.
The results are as follows
1. The osmotic fragility in NaCl solution was increased in pregnant woman and fetus than that of the non-pregnant woman. Especially, this differences were statistically significant in 0.45 and 0.5% of NaCl solutions.
2. Concentration of NaCl solution of 50% hemolysis was increased than that of non¡þpregnant woman as following oders: toxemic pregnant woman, fetus of normal preg¡þnancy, normal pregnancy, and fetus of toxemic pregnancy.
3. The RBC of the toxemic pregnant woman was less fragile than that of the normal pregnant woman.
