The Effects of Comprehensive Health Management Program on Health Promotion for the Elderly

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of comprehensive health management program on physical and psychosocial health promotion for the elderly. A quasi-experimental research with nonequivalent control group pretest-post test design was conducted. The subjects of this study consist of 67 people, over 65 years old who use in senior citizen¢¥s center. Comprehensive health management program consisted of health education, health counsel, low-intensity exercise, and recreation. The results of the study are as follows.
There was statistically significant difference of physical health such as systolic blood pressure, muscle flexibility, and muscle strength. There was statistically sigruficant difference of psychosocial health such as perceived health status, depression, and life satisfaction. The degree of depression in the experimental group showed decrease, the degree of perceived health status and life satisfaction in the experimental group showed increase compared to the control group. In conclusion, the comprehensive health management program used in this study is appropriate for the elderly, therefore this program is strongly recommended for positive application for independent gerontological nursing care.
