Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the attitudes of middle-aged male workers toward their job and retirement. The subjects in this study were 372 employed males (222 employees working in company and 150 civil servants) in Chung-nam and Gyeong-gi areas. The instruments in this study consisted of attitudes toward job and retirement. The Findings were as follows: First, most of the respondents had neutral attitudes toward their job. However, the respondents more aged, with spouse and children had higher satisfaction, higher orientation, and lower stress in their job. Second,
the attitudes of the respondents toward retirement seemed a little positive. The civil servants and respondents with less income showed more positive attitudes toward retirement. Third, the respondents with more positive attitudes toward job and with higher job security showed more positive attitudes toward retirement. Fourth, the occupation type of respondents and job security were the most important impactor on their attitudes toward retirement. Finally, we suggested several
implications for future research of retirement and elderly welfare policy on these results.
